Kupwara, June 02 (KNO): Fear and panic gripped the residents of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after a young store keeper tested positive a day after his death on Tuesday. The locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the deceased was disturbing rice and other material at his designated store some days back but on Monday was shifted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital after complaining about severe fever only but had no symptoms related to Covid-19. They said that the young store keeper had no contact or travel history while the officials at SMHS said the deceased died of bilateral pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The official said the patient was admitted in SMHS hospital Srinagar on Monday with Bilateral pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) but died within an hour of admission while sample for COVID-19 was collected and the body was kept in mortuary. “Test results came positive on today afternoon.” The death of young store keeper probably due to Covid-19 has sent shock waves among the residents as the deceased few days back was distributing rice at his store and a huge number of people have come in close contact with him. A group of locals from Lolab have also demanded re-sampling of the deceased as they claim he had no travel or contact history and believe that there must be something wrong or he may have been mistakenly declared as Covid-19 positive. Meanwhile valleys leading Flu expert DR. Nisar Ul Hassan on being contacted told KNO that the death of young man is a matter of concern as he has not medical underlying condition. He said it is probably the virus is now attacking the young people including those without any apparent medical underlying problem. “We never know whether the virus is behaving aggressively because of some change or it’s just an individual case.” Pertinently, the deceased has become the youngest victim of Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir and the only with not a single underling problem. So far as per official figures the people who have died had medical underling conditions and were elderly—(KNO)
